Abdultheartist unleashes NEW EP, 2000 Deluxe

Meet "genre fluid" rapper/singer/producer Abdultheartist . Hailing from Windhoek, Nambia, he is on a journey to explore and blend various genres. He began his musical odyssey back in grade 5 (age 11), where he started out in dance and poetry. Eventually he found new forms of expression through rapping and singing. At age 14 he was introduced to world of beat production. He currently blends hip hop, trap and R&B as he continues to push the boundaries of sound.
On the 11th of August he dropped the deluxe version of his EP titled 2000, which features IV ROI and Catalia. We had the pleasure of chatting to him about his new release and this is how it unfolded.
1. Why did you name the project 2000 ?
I named it “2000” because it's the year I was born in and 2023 is my Jordan year and I wanted to commemorate my birthday with a piece of me I hold dear, my Art. Which is why it was dropped on my birthday, April 10th.
2. What was the writing process like?
My writing process can go one of two ways.
- The 1st being by making a beat. I open up my DAW and just look for melodies that I could find pockets in that would allow me to fill up the space in the melody or work with it. I then lay down the vocals and build the drums around it or vice versa.
- The 2nd being a producer sending me a beat and me writing to it the best I can.
3. Three words that best describe the project?
Authentic, True, Self-Reflection
4. As a hybrid artist (singer & rapper), did you consciously select beats to showcase both skills or was that unintentional?
It’s usually unintentional, sometimes I just feel like maybe I can sing here, especially if the melody or beat is melodic then I try to incorporate my vocals into the beat as much as I can.
5. Which of the two types of songs do you love working on the most, sing along or raps?
I love working on both the most, I know it may seem indecisive but asking me to choose my favorite artistic attribute is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child. I don’t love one more than the other because all my artistic attributes work in unison to deliver the music.
6. Favourite song on the project? And why?
My favourite song is Nobody Else because it introduced a wonderful person and a new talent. Catalia is not only an incredible vocalist but good company and I look forward to creating with her and helping her create in the process.
7. What is your biggest goal for this project?
My biggest goal is that I hope it resonates with people. The main aim of my music is to inspire self-belief and self-confidence which is why I have songs such as Him/He and Contagious or even Pope from my previous tape. Besides self-expression I hope it can fall on the ears of someone and maybe inspire them in some way or help them through a situation they're going through or just vibe. I am genre fluid so I make all types of music.
2000 Deluxe is OUT NOW on ALL DSP's. If you haven't heard it yet, I suggest you run it up ASAP.
