Moonga Kapambwe, popularly known as  MOONGA K., is a Zambian-born and Botswana-raised singer, songwriter, activist, creative director, and sociologist  (currently based in South Africa). From a firm musical background, MOONGA K. started singing at 6, performing at 9 and was prompted to write after hearing Frank Ocean’s ‘American Wedding’ at age 14. As a major sci-fi fan, he carries the same limitless, imaginative approach to conceptualization, in which he creates a unique experience through his visuals and music. He cites Prince, Laura Mvula, D’Angelo, Ntozake Shange and Janelle Monáe as some of his musical influences. With such references, he has developed a blend of sound that includes  elements of R&B, funk, soul, hip hop, rock, and electronic styles. 

Moonga achieved recognition as Apple Music’s New Artist Spotlight, OkayAfrica’s 2018 list of ‘15 Best South African Albums So Far"  and  got featured on publications such as GQ, AFROPUNK, Rolling Stone, Wonderland, The Fader, UPROXX, Red Bull Music, 10and5, Texx And The City and MusicInAfrica . Among his other career highlights, Moonga has graced the stages of Planet Afropunk, Rocking the Daisies, OppiKoppi, Fête de la Musique, Splashy Fen Festival, Afternoon Express, Expresso, and Sofar Sounds.  Moonga's 2022 EP release CANDID was nominated for a SAMA , which was produced and co-written with Greg Abrahams.

On the 29th of September, Moonga released his much anticipated album, GARDEN, a 8 track project that is a vibrant package of sounds and imagery.
