1. What inspired the title of the project?
Title of the project was inspired by my first time coming to Joburg. Felt like taking a first leap to find if I could fly or not. My mother and my grandmother have always been my biggest support system and as I was working on this project, the thought of them believing in me, gave me confidence and so I had to fly for them.
2. Three words that best describe your project?
Bold. honest. bright.
3. Your sound is very diverse on this offering, where did you draw inspiration from?
I drew a lot of the inspiration from music I was listening to. Which was a lot of rock, indie pop and most importantly a lot of contemporary South African music from emerging artists from the years 2022 - 2023
4. How long did it take you put the album together?
All in all it took me 2 years to put the album together. . Recording process took me about 4 to 6 months. Majority of the time went into perfecting the compositions.
5. Favourite track off the album and why?
REAL LIFE. I think that is where I am at right now. Especially with the project finally being out! It expresses the excitement and confidence i have right now especially considering how long it took to get to this moment
6. What song would you say sums up the project?
PILOT.
7. What are your hopes for FLY FOR MAGRIZA ?
I hope it gives new listeners a taste of who Nino Fresko is and how big Nino Fresko will be in the near future. I hope it helps listeners fall in love with listening to projects again. I really hope it inspires musicians and the youth to believe in themselves and take those leaps because you won't really know if you can fly until you try to.
