Daniel La Toure & KP Tha Pro discuss
love & loss on NEW ALBUM, BOUNDARIES

BOUNDARIES is a collab-album by contemporary R&B artist, Daniel La Toure and producer/sound engineer, KP Tha Pro , it was released on the 2nd of August 2023. Both artists were exposed to music at a very young age, KP started playing on the drums and piano, while Daniel had a go at the guitar at age 11. Their early experiences played a big role in their development into full blown musicians. The fusion of their expertise & vision came to life in the form of an album which also features Originelle, KHAEDA, Tasha Stones, Pot3nt, Shefsnow & Tasha Hendrixx.

We got to chat to them over their joint project and here's how it went down.

Daniel was in a very toxic situationship when we started working together. Initially we had planned to make an EP. Daniel just started writing about what he was feeling. After recording TORN, PAUSE and BURY, it became very apparent that we needed a bigger tracklist to properly document the story. Not only that but the musical chemistry between us was just smooth sailing and easy going, the songs just kept coming.

2. What is the meaning behind the album title?

It's a simple concept, Boundaries protect you from toxic situations. It was in middle of May, Daniel couldn't pick a name for the project, he was explaining the story behind the album to someone, and they said to him "BOUNDARIES" and it just instantly clicked.

The features were picked by KP

5.What was the inspiration/story behind the cover art?

The Artwork was curated by foreignintime. The mask symbolizes the need to shield oneself from harmful influences to find inner growth and self-discovery. Overall, the image conveys a powerful message about the importance of protecting oneself from toxic environments and the journey to discovering one's true self.

6. What was it like working together on the album?

Working with KP has been honestly fun and challenging in a good way. He always gets the vision I have for a song and the atmosphere he adds to the production creates a lot of immersion. Working with another person is always interesting but with this project I felt 100% free to do whatever because I trusted KP to get the job done.

Working with Daniel has been phenomenal, it’s always amazing finding someone who is just as talented and passionate about music the same way you are, and with Daniel, you can tell and feel that he puts his all into his music. Music must feel natural and not forced, I’m glad I got to work with Daniel and learn his way of doing things. Iron sharpens Iron.

7.Favourite song(s) on the album?

STRANGERS on an ISLAND, you know when you meet someone and they're the only person that matters and all you want to do is runaway with them and go somewhere no one knows you 2, that's what I was feeling when I wrote the song and I'd love to feel that again someday.

NUMB, I just relate with the lyrics on a personal level. And that Beat is just too amazing.

8. What was the most memorable moment of the album's creation process?

The most memorable moment was when we met for the first time ever for the promo photoshoot, the album was already complete , uploaded and ready to drop, only to find out we the same age and nearly the same height. The realization of “damn, we really created this” was a top tier moment.
